Toradol (ketorolac) is a prescription-strength non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) administered as an intramuscular injection for fast, effective pain relief. Toradol works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — the compounds responsible for pain and inflammation. It is commonly used for acute pain from migraines, musculoskeletal injuries, post-procedure discomfort, and severe inflammation. Effects typically begin within 15–30 minutes and can last 4–6 hours.
Toradol is administered as a quick intramuscular injection by your nurse — the process takes under a minute. Most clients feel the anti-inflammatory effect beginning within 15–30 minutes. The injection site may have mild, brief soreness, but the systemic pain relief that follows is typically significant. Your nurse will review your health history and current medications before administration to ensure it is appropriate for you.
Toradol is a prescription medication administered by a licensed nurse. It is not appropriate for all individuals. Contraindications include kidney disease, active GI bleeding, certain blood thinners, and NSAID allergy. Your nurse will conduct an assessment prior to administration. This is not intended to replace ongoing medical care.
